The moment is perfect. The sky is clear and there is a slight breeze. All you can see is ahead of you and it's all that matters. Everything behind you has allready been overcome with precision and velocity. You look ahead towards the next corner. Are you going to cut it on the inside or take it wide? How fast are you going to enter it? You grip the lush leather steering wheel and you take the corner. It is perfect. The speed was perfect. The way you entered it was perfect. There is a subtle smell of burnt rubber and the engine purrs at high RPMs.

WHY

I cannot understand how someone can be naive enough to park in the middle spot in the parking lot. It completely blocks off the exit and causes a major traffic backflow. It is obviously not a parking stall. The lines are only there because they haven't been removed. With a shortage of parking as it is, students try to scan the lot for a spot to park. We try to drive around the lot, but an exit is blocked off by the fool that parks in the middle spot. It causes a huge inconvenience when school ends and parents come to pick up their children. They end up having to reverse through the parking lot with students walking every which way. It is a real hazard and endangers the lives of many people. The individual that is inconsiderate enough to park their should be fined and made to pay the price.

My Top 3 Cars

Cars can be ranked by a number wide criteria. I am going to rank my top 3 cars based on firstly exterior styling, horsepower and acceleration.

The Bugatti Veyron is an obvious first. It's exterior is sophisticated, while still maintaining a sporty appearance. The air vents and two tone paint are strategically placed to follow the lines of the car and the engine housing shows off it's monstrous W16 engine. With it's W16 engine, which essentially is two V8s fused together, and 4 superchargers it is the world's fastest accelerating car and is capable of highest top speed for any street legal car. It can reach a speed of 407.47km/h and has over 1000 horsepower.

The car that made the second spot in my top 3 is the Lamborghini Reventon. This car's exterior styling is quite drastic with sharp harsh lines that seem to flow together somehow. It has large aggressive air vents and a very low profile. It has a maximum speed of 340km/h which is put out by a 6.5L V12 and 650 horsepower. With only 20 Reventons being produced it is an extremely rare and expensive car.

The 3rd car on my list is a Porsche Carrera GT. The exterior of this Porsche is very sleek, it follows authentic Porsche lines and is very distinct. It is powered by a 5.7L V10 producing 612 horsepower and has a maximum speed of 329km/h.

POETIC NOVELS

http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/family/poetry.asp?poem=18379

This poem relates to the novel Candy because it deals with the main theme of addiction. In the novel the main characters are both addicted to different substances. Candy is addicted to heroin and Joe is addicted to Candy. He has to watch her deal with her heroin addiction and faces many hardships. "Because An Addict I'm Not, But I Must Watch [Her] Be", exemplifies what Joe deals with as he watches Candy become engulfed by heroin. Joe denies his addiction to Candy even though he does not directly state "An Addict I'm Not". He denies his addiction by trying to keep it secret form his family and friends. He leaves his band when Mike gets in a fight and says he is helping his sister, but in reality he is more concerned with what has happened to Candy and where she has gone.

CANDY

"...when you feel embarrassed about something that you shouldn't feel embarrassed about, you end up in a vicious circle of being embarrassed by your embarrassment....and that's really embarrassing."

In the novel Candy the main character, Joe, meets a girl from en entirely different walk of life. He ends up having strong feelings about her. Joe is an overly insecure kid and he over analyses most situations turning them into awkward moments. I, like Joe, am fairly insecure. I tend to over think situations and can easily make situations awkward. Similar to Joe, if I am in an unfamiliar environment I become even more nervous and become embarassed more easily. I think Joe has a strange personality in that he is very self concious, but is not afriad to do new things.

Frustrated Fans

The Vancouver Canucks have been a successfull team in the past, with trips to the playoffs and some high scoring players. But in recent years the team has been lacking a scoring arsenal. The defence of the Canucks is fairly strong, but has been injury plagued throughout the season. Kevin Bieksa, maybe the Canucks strongest defenceman in the 06/07 season was injured until midway throught the season and Sami Salo, the hard shooting point man has been out numerous times for various injuries. The main line of the Canucks consisting of the Sedin twins and one other player picked by the coach based on performance has been a dissapointment. In the last 5 regular season games the twins have combined for 11 points and only 2 goals which is not even close to being sufficient for a team that is attempting to make it into the playoffs. Their Captain Markus Naslund has not been putting up numbers that will take his team far. He has scored 25 goals and has only 55 points compared to his 104 point season in 02/03. Without Roberto Luongo in net the Canucks would have no chance to win a game. He is the only consistent part of the team and must be very frustrated when his team continually coughs up the lead when he is playing an exceptional game. I still am a fan of the Canucks, but I am losing faith rapidly.
